Relative Color -- Colors dont stand alone. They interact with each other and are influenced by their surrounding. Michel Eugene and Josef Albers are among the fisrt ones to study interactive colors.
There are three types of color's interactions:
1. Dark/Light Value Contrast
2. Complementry Reaction or Effect
3. Substraction
Here, all of the middle squares are the same color. However, they appear differently because of the colors surrounded them.
